I am new here too and in desperate need of support. My Mother fell and broke her hip in April and I have moved 3 states (sold my house at a loss and am unemployed) to take care of her. She is extremely independent and also a very angry person. I am the only child. I own the family home where she has lived since 1960 and am now living with her there. The home is a wreck; she has done little or no repairs in years. She recovered from surgery quite well for a time but lately things are going downhill. She refuses help but is no longer eating properly-citing that she "has no money". Actually she has quite a sizeable portfolio and also recievs Social Security. I have a social worker coming over this afternoon hoping to facilitate a discussion but have my doubts.
Additionally she is emotionally abusive and I am wearting thin with the stress.
Any ideas?
