There are several posts on this exact topic. Itwould really serve you to look at those and read them.
1. Va Pension (read posts to understand definition of PENSION) is a non-taxable monthly award for disability. As such, it is not counted as income for medicaid purposes.
2. I assume that you are referring to Medicaid Long-Term Care, the program that covers nursing home expenses? And I assume you are in a state that has a cap on income, correct? If so, the when the beneficiary is in a nursing home, VA reduces the award to $90 a month. Va expects the beneficiary to apply for Medicaid/Medi-Cal(in California) to pay the costs of the nursing home
3. If the beneficary is recieving Medicaid in the community or at a NON-nursing home facility, then again, the Va Pension is not counted as income and the Vet can recieve upto the full amount of the monthly award.
If you could be more specific, it would help.
