Simple idea for helping to overcome resistance to moving

One of my families just mentioned a great idea.

She’s having her Mom (read resistant to moving) have her hair done at the beauty shop of the community of their choice. The community is delighted to offer it to them.

Of course the appointment is going to be around 10:30/ 11:00 and it will naturally flow into a lunch where Mom can meet new friends.  Great mini-icebreaker!

That is a GREAT idea!!  I can't wait to mention that to families that I am working with!

     Thanks, Linn!

Great idea!  I was just discussing at length the importance of taking her mom to tour the community and making it a lunch date.  I will now bring up the beauty parlor idea as well!

Sometimes, comparing the cost of living at home to the cost of assisted living will help ease the financial concerns an elderly relative may have about moving and getting the care they need. Below is a chart to help with that comparison:

    Monthly Expense Comparison

Use this chart to compare your current monthly living expenses and the monthly rate for housing and services in an assisted living community. The outcome might be very surprising!   *additional charges may apply based on assessment

Wow - Excellent points, Linda.  When you put it that way, it's hard to dispute.  Thanks!

Yes, this is a great idea!  I am the Marketing Director (Heritage of Brookstone) at an Assisted Living Facility in Kennesaw, and we will give a coupon for a free haircut to get that process started!  Also, we invite prospects to bring their reluctant parent to a fun special event (we recently had a Grand Opening for our French Bistro), which can turn into a tour, and ultimately a move-in! (It happened for me recently).  See link for the Bistro opening:  http://www.HeritageofBrookstone.shutterfly.com.   Good Luck!
