New Treatment in Sight for Alzheimer's? An unexpected discovery leads to possibilities...

Reported on CBS - KCAL 2 news in Los Angeles http://cbs2.com/ on January 30, during surgery on an obese man, the surgeons were working with electrodes in his brain, and by stimulating a different part of the man's brain, suddenly unlocked lost memories, which increased as they increased stimulation.  Research is now being done on 6 Alzheimer's patients to continue testing the viability of using electricity to assist in reversal of memory loss.  Naturally, it is a very invasive procedure and the study is in its earliest stages.

Here is the link to the video news story.  Not sure how long it will take you to this video, but very interesting!

Wow!  That's very exciting.  Clearly it's long ways off for broader use in Alzheimer's patients but it sounds like this should kick off a big wave of research in electrical stimulation as a therapy for Alzheimer's and dementia.
