    Ageless Design

More and more families are bringing their senior loved ones home with them, to live. This can be a huge task not only as a full time caregiver, but remodeling your home to best suit the needs for your loved one. Examples needed: Larger doorways/extended jams, Cut out showers/turned into walk ins large enough for a walker or standing devices. Nozzles in the showers to best clean your loved one. Wider hallways and bedroom doorways, ramps into the home, wheelchair storage, supplies and hosptial beds, are the room adequate for these types of things? Privacy issues? The list is endless and can be costly. As a CSA/Eldercare Advisor, when you counsel your clients and offer ideas for the caregiving aspects, it is also best to provide information for the cosmetics issues for the new care home. There is a wonderful book called  CAREGIVING at HOME- www.caregivingathome.com by William Leahy, MD. He first examines the medical aspects of this as well as YOUR PHYSICAL surroundings regarding caregiving at home. This helps eliminated unneeded stress for the caregiver.

Find a trustworthy, licensed and bonded Contractor to give to your families as a referral. Take snapshots of their remodeling projects and put that in your ELDERCARE ADVISOR BINDER. I refer people to : GAYLORD CONSTRUCTION which is licensed in the State of California. Start networking and learn what a contractor can do for your family and their loved ones physical needs.
