As an Administrator for a retirement community, I've had the pleasure of working with hundreds of families.

One common concern from adult children is the lack of socialization for mom and/or dad.

Our recommendation? Bring them over! They are welcome to come to our community for activities and events, and we also recommend our local senior centers. We are fortunate to have 3 active centers within a 10 mile radius of our location. Each center has its own personality and schedule.

The commonality of activities and events at our community and the centers is similar age groups with similar interests.

Cost = free. The bingo, crafts, woodworking, quilting groups, etc at the centers don't cost anything. If they decide to have lunch with their new peers, it's about $3 each at the senior centers. Here, we treat them to lunch.

Socialization is a major player in one's general outlook on life, and day to day mood.
