I'm not sure where you are, but there are Caregiver Support Groups in many areas (normally you'll find these at hospitals and assisted living communities) for moments like this. I work in the senior industry and have had to go through something so very similar to what you're going through and it is the worst kind of heartache to see your parent not receiving care that you want them to have. A great way is to stay close to the social workers and if you are finding that your parent is not being treated to the level you would like, there is always the quality assurance department you can reach out to.

Here is my email address, if you would like to stay in touch: marketing.westseattle@merrillgardens.com Would love to help and be a resource.

-Sam

All new to me

My mom has been in the hospital since march 12, 2012. she is diabetic and I found her dehydrated, confused, and scared. took her to emergency blood sugar was 484 and her kidney function was failing. they advised she would pass. I found that hard to hear, so i kept my faith. she eventually went to a skilled facility and they found her on the floor of the bathroom and she went to emergency from anal bleeding. They did edg, colonscopy, and radio scan and determined it was diverticulitus! When stable we moved her closer to us. Upon her arrival she was very confused, and i learned the hosp gave her a seditive to relax for the transport. That night i received a call she was again bleeding and she went to emergency, and been there since. 2 days after she arrived(hospital) she fell and broke her hip. She had a pin put in and is in alot of pain. It breaks my heart! She has been thru so much and it doesnt seem to be getting any better. It appears to me no one really cares. Is it cause she is african american, because she is medicare/medical dependent. I dont understand, and I'm trying not to blame, but I am really angry.

she will be released in a few days and will go back to skilled care. I am so afraid for her .

I need to vent and hear from those that may be going thru the same thing.
