    making the decision

In making a decision like this for a senior they have to feel like this is "doable".  One of the ways I have made this decision feel doable is to have the "considering" senior meet one or more people who are already living in a community they are considering who experienced similar feelings.  That can be in the community in the resident's apartment or the resident can always make a visit to the apprehensive, considering senior.  This way the considering senior is able to look at this decision from "the other side".  It is kind of like seeing the end of the movie first so that while you are watching the middle you don't have to be so anxious.

    Re: making the decision

One of things I explain to my families as they "begin the process of making this decision" IS this:

"If you feel completely overwhelmed, exhausted, confused and somewhat guilty, remember you are doing everything right" "Especially in finding a safe and happy environment for your loved one".
