Poem - In Loving Memory of Nellie Mae Burns 01/03/1917 - 04/14/2006

    She Went Away

I lost my grandma today, yes, she went away, her time on Earth was through.  She had lived a long, happy life, did many things and went many places and brought joy to the people she knew.  She was quite the adventurer, always eager for her next trip.  She was such fun to be around, yes, my grandma was hip.   I lost my grandma today, yes, she went away, her time on Earth was through.  Though I may miss her, I know that she's all right.  She will always be with me, even if she's out of sight.  My grandma was someone special, God broke the mold with her.  These years seemed to come and go and went by in a blur.  Oh how thankful I am for the great memories I have, the ones I cherish deep in my heart.  For I know that she loved me to the end and from the start.  I lost my grandma today, yes, she went away, her time on Earth was through.  My tears are ones of joy knowing that grandma is not in pain.  Her passing is my loss, but definitely Heaven's gain.  She saw the angels coming, hanging around in the room.   She awaited them anxiously, knowing it would be soon.  Thank you Lord for my grandma, for she was so dear to me.   I thank you for the time we spent, but that is short compared to eternity.   I love you Grandma! Sharon that is truly a beautiful poem.  Thank you so much for sharing....sometimes we can't get our own words and feelings out and need to read something like this.  Bless you and know that we are all thinking about you as yesterday was her anniversary....
