    BAD TEETH

Did you know a simple decayed tooth can cause some severe bacteria issues in a senior with a compromised immune system. Seniors need to keep all dental hyigene current and brushing and flossing may not be enough. They can get a prescribtion for FLUORIDE drops and put two drops a day into their coffee, milk or juice. This helps keep the teeth strong, as they age , teeth age too, it will not reverse the affects of aging , it just adds strength. Medicare will pay for it too! Bad dental care can cause UTI's, bacteria infections and aggravate your arthritis! YES, its true! Its systemic to your immune system, so KEEP YOUR MOUTH CLEAN

Sorry to hear about your mother Casey!  I found some pretty helpful tips on the following post.

    http://www.caring.com/questions/dental-care-for-seniors

I found this paragraph to be especially helpful:

Another place to check is your county's dental association (the dentists' professional group). Some of these associations hold free dental clinics, or otherwise provide limited, low-cost dental care for low-income seniors. Also, if there is a school of dentistry – where new dentists are trained -- at a college or university near where you live, they may offer free or low-cost dental care at their clinic. Finally, check with local senior centers near where you live. They may have dentists who visit and provide free dental care, or they may provide a referral to dentists who offer low-cost care.

To prevent cavities, you need to remove plaque, the transparent layer of bacteria that coats the teeth. The best way to do this is by brushing your teeth twice a day and flossing at least once a day. Brushing also stimulates the gums, which helps to keep them healthy and prevent gum disease. Brushing and flossing are the most important things that you can do to keep your teeth and gums healthy.

Keeping your teeth and gums healthy is vital for your general health. If you do not look after your teeth and gums properly, plaque and tartar can easily build up. This can create several problems, including gum disease, tooth decay and tooth loss. If you suffer from certain medical conditions, maintaining healthy teeth and gums is even more important. elderly assisted living

It can't be said that teeth are a crucial part of our bodies. This calls for special attention to proper hygiene, otherwise, bacteria will break down the teeth's natural defense and attack the internal dental structure, creating cavities. To meet the rising costs of dental treatment it is important that you choose a good dental insurance plan. Having an affordable dental care should encourage you to take more preventive care of your teeth to avoid the more serious dental problems.

This is really important so make sure that your loved one brushes his teeth regularly. If he can't manage to keep his mouth clean anymore then provide assistance or hire a caregiver who can help him carry out his daily living activities such as brushing his teeth.

There is no doubt in this that decayed tooth is the main cause of bacteria there is old saying that” one rotten apple can spoil the whole barrel.

For a while, my mother did not go to the dentist due to the fact; she had no health insurance, when we finally took her, she found out that she needed a tooth extraction because the sinus pain she thought she was having, was actually a toothache. They added stitches and she was ok after that, but now we are cautious about not taking our teeth for irresponsibility.
