    Junk Mail & Telemarketers

Are you sick of junk mail and calls at dinner time from telemarketers? I know I am! I am on the Do Not Call List, and that has nearly stopped the telemarketing calls.

The Today Show on NBC recently did a show on how to stop junk mail and telemarketing calls.

Here is the link with steps to take: www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16531776/

Thanks Linda. This is helpful! How about all the political calls! At least we already had our primary in NH so it has died off a bit for a while!

    Re: Junk Mail & Telemarketers

This is definitely something we need to share with families who still have Mom or Dad at home capable of answering the phone.  Many of you have heard my story regarding the year my Mom spent untold amounts of money....many of which were scams.  I wish I had her on the "Do not call List"....it never occured to me.  I had cancelled all the credit cards I knew about, but she was getting calls for new cards and accepting them.  The QVC credit card was her "best friend".

    Warm regards,

An elderly friend of the family received a message on his answering machine to return a call to the given phone number.  When he did, he was billed over $300 on his phone bill.  It is important for families to be aware that Seniors are at risk for these scams so they can be proactive.

Thank you for this information.  I've assisted my neighbors and removed their phone number from telemarketers!  They are so grateful.
