Mother-in-law just moved in with us

It's a complex story, as all are. The nursing facility where she was discharged her to my husband Thursday. The nursing facility was not truthful able the level of care required. We clearly did not understand the extent of her disease. From what I can tell she oscillates between Moderate and Severe Altzheimers. 10% of the time she can clearly describe what she needs. Most of the time she is completely confused. 20% of the time she is combative and won't recognize her family. I can't take another day of this! The nursing home where she was refused to re-admit her today. They had a group meeting among the staff and refused her due to her combative condition. Yet they let her untrained, illequipped family take the responsibility without full disclosure. It's now Saturday. The social worker is planning to help us on Monday try to start getting her ready for assisted living. That's too late. I want something done as soon as dawn breaks. What can we do in short term?

    Hello.

I am with holday retirement in Bradenton Florida.

I would speak with your family Dr. to either make sure she is on the correct medication and if she has meds to make sure she is taking them as prescribed.

This is a difficult situation. It does sound like getting to the right doctor and medications is essential. I host a radio show and interviewed a doctor who specializes in this....you may want to listen. Just go to http://www.seniorcareauthority.com/radio-show/dr-edgar-angelone-phd-facpn/
