    medicaid waiver & assisted living

Due to hype during the tour and visual confirmation, we put our mother in this "assisted living" home.  She has been there almost 3 months and the distance between promises and reality is getting wider and wider. This home puts itself out as "Assisted Living"and no other discription - this is an issue because   1) - there are many zombie type residents who must be wheeled in and wheeled out for dining  and cannot either speak or hold an intelligent conversation  2) -most of these never eat what is put before them, nor are they being fed, we suspect that ENSURE, paid for by medicaid is their source of nutrition  3) - staff is so limited that when help is requested  by a resident after 6:oopm, the response is "tomorrow" (due to limited staff, worse on the weekends). 4) - Nurse leaves at 10:3opm  5) - Food is often cold (lack of help in kitchen), lacking in nutrition most of the time and dessert  most likely is a stale cookie, dried cake day after day instead of a fruit cup. Most of these residents could not handle peeling, cutting up a whole fruit  All this uneaten food is dumped at each and every meal (some of the food so bad that the trash is where it belongs).

The home is in a great neighborhood, carpeted, many windows, garden area (kept locked), candy eye appeal throughout.

I could go on, but you get the idea.  We feel there are legal standards  not being met here but do not know where to go to check what those standards are before we call a meeting and lay out our grievinces or turn them in.  HELP.
