    Pharmacy Costs too high??

Recently on ABC tv there was a very depressing segment about an elderly woman who could not afford her prescriptions as this senario exists everyday of the year & has caused a significant prescription abandonment. Now with the medicaid costs being cut & the unknown with the new health care plan, I found this terrific site that allows anybody to print a simple drug card that allows up to 85% off prescriptions, plus it is good all over the United States....let's please stop the prescription abandonment & give the much need help to those in need especially our elderly...

    the site is www.drugcardsforfree.com

    TO ALL:

I just recieved this email reply from 'helpful1":

Re: Pharmacy Costs too high??                                 By helpful1 in Medicare and Medicaid                                    yes but the costs are still fairly high on such a limited income.

This is not someone who knows what they are speaking about.

FACT: Medicare Part D is insurance that covers 65% of the cost of retail price on perscriptions. If a senior has $10,000 or $833 a month of retail priced RX, Part D will cover aprox $6,500 for the yr. This is the BASIC coverage.  Most Part D insurance plans actually cover a larger

But our poster, 'helpful1' claims Grandmom is "such limited income" (NOTE: never had someone not give a $ amount.....never)

I suggested he apply for EXTRA HELP (a program thru Medicare & Social security for variuos income levels) that:

    1. reduces the monthly premium to ZERO

    2. eliminates the dounut hole to ZERO

    3.Prices generics at aprox $2

    4. Prices Brand Px at aprox $5

basicly about 95% coverage. And 'helpful1" says that "the costs are still fairly high"   REALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with your assessment as helpful is not speaking for me, but lets keep in mind that there are thousands of people out there who have no coverage of any sorts as the card is beneficial immigrants, the unemployed, p/t workers even people who do have coverage...but you did hit the mark correctly.

This is sad to hear, an elderly who can afford prescription medications. They're the ones who need medicines and it is wrong to deprive them of these things. It wouldn't be that expensive if seniors would take advantage of prescription discounts. Many pharmacies give free discount cards and the best thing about this is that there are no limitations. An elderly can buy all her medicines at discounted prices. There are also online pharmacies that accept these cards. It's more convenient and affordable. Seniors should get these cards now and take advantage of affordable medicines, be it branded or generic.
